Eugene J. Reynolds, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2011 as a result of heart failure. Eugene was born in Dixon, Illinois on April 17, 1923. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grammar school and then Dixon High School. He answered the call of his country during WWII and served in the Army Air Force as part of the Air Transport Command. While stationed at Mills Field in San Bruno, CA he met his future wife Mardelle. They were married in Sept. 1945.
After the war, Eugene worked in the radio electronics industry for Eitel-McCullough. He later was employed at the SF Mint as a coin pressman and retired in 1985.
In retirement, Eugene and Mardelle enjoyed many day trips throughout the Bay Area. Eugene found an interest in attending horse racing at Bay Meadows and often referred to it as “going to the office”. Proud of his Illinois heritage, Eugene always rooted for the Chicago Cubs.
He delighted in making others laugh and will be remembered for his good nature and ever present smile.
Eugene is survived by Mardelle, his son Gene (Randi), grandson Chris (Erin), great grandchildren Gavin & Lilah, and his brother Albert.
Family and friends are invited to attend a rosary on April 4th at 7pm and Funeral Service on April 5th at 11am at Skylawn,
